Hold your horses. It may be September, but here at Camden Store HQ we are pleased to report that we are not done with the summer season – not just yet. And, as it turns out, we are not alone! This weekend sees the annual Steeles’ Fest take place at the Sir Richard Steele pub on Haverstock Hill. Yep – that is right – a SUMMER FESTIVAL, right here in our own Camden Town. And it is free. No stupid (wrist-suffocating) wristband required.
Never been to Steeles? Well, here is your chance to rectify all that.
Steeles is an old boozer, populated by old boozers. Old guys fall off their stalls, regularly. And, they really do like their football rather than their folkball. It is possible to feel like you are the only scenester in the village. But that is OK. Trust us. Live a little.
So, to the festival we go. The line up is pretty intense. Bands are playing right through Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. Our top tip is Elena Tonra (video above) who will be hitting the acoustic stage early on Saturday evening. Building on her contribution to the Communion Compilation album, she looks set to be a rising star in 2011.
We have pinched the lineup off the organisers, and we have even taken some time out to pop some links in to some of the bands. Take five minutes and have a click around. Think of it as your own personal programme!
We will be there. So should you.
