A Right Royal Knees-Up (Sunday)

So, you’ve seen the stage timings, you’ve read about the Saturday acts, and now you are wondering what the Sunday line-up is all about. Well, wonder no more. Here it is, in all its glory…..

Accoustica @ 2100
Steeles Sunday regulars, Accoustica, will be the final live act of the royal wedding weekend. That’s not the end of the story though, our DJs will be waiting in the wings to take us on through to Monday morning. That’s right, ANOTHER bank holiday Monday.

Benjamin Folke Thomas @ 2015
http://www.myspace.com/benjaminthomas1
Joining us fresh from the Lantern Society’s slot at the Camden Crawl, regular Steeles performer Benjamin Folk Thomas will be serenading Sunday night with his melodic brand of Americana blues.

The Kirkland Turn @ 1930
http://www.myspace.com/thekirklandturn
This band has an ever expanding line up accompanying singer Daryl Kirkland. With Mrs Kirkland on drums, trumpet and vocals and an acoustic bass player, The Kirkland Turn are said to be an act to behold. Strong powerful vocals and arrangements for dark and wonderful songs.

Jack Day @ 1845
http://www.myspace.com/jackdaymusic
Another Lantern Society boy, Jack is an exciting talent on the London acoustic scene. He has immersed himself in the traditions of folk, country and blues, absorbing what has since grown into an extensive and impressive repertoire. Jack’s compositions are of the rich and accomplished variety, all sang in a time-drenched voice with insight far beyond his years.

Andy Twyman @ 1800
http://www.myspace.com/andytwyman
Party starter and one-man-band Andy Twyman will keep the knees-up going with his unique brand of blues – “more mojo than a chicken on cocaine”, apparently. Read all about him here.

Simon Stanley Ward @ 1715
http://www.reverbnation.com/simonstanleyward
Simon is full on country singer. Have a listen to his songs below – we think you’ll probably be keen to catch him. Our fave is Behind Closed Doors

The Echoes @ 1630
http://www.myspace.com/theechoesmusic
Soon to support 2011’s band of the moment, Brother, these south west lads look set to have a good summer. Catch them this Sunday before they jump on the festival circuit.

Ben Fm @ 1545
http://www.myspace.com/longlivebenfm
Promising to play at least four Bruce Springsteen covers, Ben FM is to the Steeles what Rolf Harris is to Glastonbury. Everyone’s favourite drummer-turned-crooner, Ben is a must for all A Right Royal Knees-Up attendees. Miss him at your peril.

Sara Schralli @ 1500
http://www.myspace.com/saraschiralli
A last minute addition to the line-up, we’re looking forward to seeing Sara open the stage on Sunday afternoon. Critically acclaimed for her bewitchingly delicate voice, we are sure that she’ll soothe a few headaches from the festivities of night before.

So that’s it for the live acts. Don’t forget there are DJs all night on Friday at the alernative wedding reception (royal fancy dress highly recommended), the line-up includes regular Steeles favourites Daft Fader DJs from 7pm, then new kid in town Har Mar Ajesty, followed by The Camden Store Ladies in Waiting and Brighton’s finest BiftaTheKid. On Saturday, we have Mark NeedNoWater and Half Dane Disco, and on Sunday Daft Fader’s back alongside Nic Lloyd. There will be no excuse not to dance like a mad thing this weekend.

Do it for your country.

A Right Royal Knees-Up (Saturday)

It’s just a matter of hours until Kate says I do (fingers crossed, Will) and A Right Royal Knees-Up kicks off. To wet your appetite we have the run down of the acts that will be taking to the stage on Saturday. Gear up for the info on Sunday’s equally mega acts shortly.

The Runners Club (Nic Dawson Kelly) @ 2230
http://www.myspace.com/nicdawsonkelly
Headlining the knees-up is the enigmatic Nic Dawson Kelly, now rebranded and playing with a full band as The Runners Club. In the middle of writing his second album, this rhythm and blues supremo will certainly get your feet stomping and your heart racing.

Yngve + The Innocent @ 2130
http://www.myspace.com/yngve
Tipped as one to catch in 2011, folk/blues/americana Yngve + The Innocent released their music video for You’ve Been Released earlier this year. We’d recommend giving it a gander to get yourself in a knees-up frame of mind. Lovely waistcoats.

Catriona Irving @ 2100
http://www.myspace.com/catrionairvingmusic
Signed to emerging independent label, neednowater records, regular hit at Steeles’ night Jingle Jangle Catriona Irving has had an eventful couple of years. Remixed and relaunched by Julian de Plasir over the channel, Catriona has swiftly become a Parisian sensation. Conveniently for her she is half French. Catch her here before she leaves us for Paris for good.

Spring Heeled Jack @ 2030
http://www.myspace.com/springheeledjack_uk
Never far from NW1, these enigmatic gentleman are frequently spotted in Camden’s hotspots. A proper North London band playing a proper North London pub – what’s not to love? Get in early for this bunch, we have a feeling they may have some fans.

Philippe Nash @ 2000
http://soundcloud.com/philippenash
With a recent Communion performance under his belt, this lad is certainly one to keep tabs on. Delta Blues influenced Philippe Nash will be performing with a couple of special guests, so make sure you head over to the acoustic stage for a medley of musical magic.

The Supernovas @ 1930
http://www.myspace.com/supernovan19
North London Strummerville boys the Supernovas put on an awesome show. Have a read of our interview with them here and watch their performance of City of Smoke, filmed on the roof of Camden’s (ex) Flowerpot….

Rodney Fisher @ 1900
http://www.myspace.com/rodneyfisher
Jingle Jangle curator, Steeles legend, former lead singer of Goodshirt and bandmate of Zane Lowe, Rodney Fisher is set to re-launch this year. Performing at the Great Escape in a couple of weeks, this is probably your last time to catch this “massive in New Zealand” kiwi before he heads onwards to faraway things.

Jamie Ley @ 1830
http://www.myspace.com/jamieleymusic
New boy on the London folk scene, Jamie Ley is a long-standing Camden Store favourite. Gorgeous lyrics and gorgeous melodies to match – you can read all about him in our interview here.

Joshua + Occaisionals @ 1800
http://www.myspace.com/inthebackpages
Young songsmith Joshua caught our eye when he played at Camden’s Barfly a few months ago. Famed for wearing brightly coloured trousers when performing, we’re pretty intrigued to see what he’ll be wearing this weekend for such a royal occasion.

Peter Panic + The Pixie @ 1730
http://www.myspace.com/peterpanicandthepixie

Authors of some seriously haunting melodies, Peter Panic + the Pixie with their lullatone-like charms may well move you. Blame your tears on the hayfever?

Cem @ 1700
Keen on his Neil Young covers, gorgeous Cem and his acoustic delights will break your heart with hushed tones and serene strumming. He has a lovely smile too.

Sir Duke @ 1630
http://www.myspace.com/sirdukelondon
Next up is the fittingly regal Sir Duke. These boys know how to bash out a tune, yes they do.

Phunk @ 1600
Kicking off the live music on Saturday are local band Phunk, promising to fill the accoustic stage with as many instruments and people as they can, these guys reckon they’ll be headlining for the next wedding. Watch out Harry & Chelsea, that’s all we’re saying.

Look forward to seeing you there….
