One Week In May

So here it is. The Camden Store listings service tip toes quietly into being. Below are a few of the gigs that are due to take place in Camden Town this coming week. We know that there are many, many more and as each week passes we will look to expand our selection until the point that we can declare ourselves to be a c o m p r e h e n s i v e authority. Until that time, please take us as you find us: a mere tip of a musical north London iceberg.

Leah MasonSo what to recommend from the list below? We are intrigued to see Leah Mason in town at the Flowerpot on Tuesday. She is due to tour with Ellie Goulding later this year, so this might be a last chance to catch her before she takes off for stardom. Her myspace is here:

Any band that utilises the genre ’showtunes’ on myspace deserves a second glance: And we are pleased that we did take that second look. The Langley Sisters do sound, at times, like they have fallen out of a musical. At other times they echo something of the Dresden Dolls. Probably the most unique sounding band hitting the Camden stages this week; see them on Thursday at the Flowerpot.

Folking Good NightClosing the week at The Enterprise is a Folking Good Night with Lail Arad, Adelaide’s Cape and Stealing Sheep. Listen to Adelaide’s Cape’s ‘Rush Hour Wind’ to get yourself in the mood: This night should keep the Sunday blues at bay for another day.

Until we meet again.
